The history of the Dallas Arboretum extends back to the early 1930's when Everette DeGolyer of the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Society suggested the idea and chaired a committee to find the site for the project. The Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Society is responsible for every asset of the Dallas Arboretum in close cooperation with the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department.
