Southfork

The Southfork Ranch Event & Conference Center in Dallas is renowned for hosting the filming of the television series Dallas. It is now a tourist attraction and an event and conference center. The facilities offer over 63,000 square feet of indoor event space, including ten ballrooms, and acres of sprawling ranchland for guided tours, private parties, special events, and shopping.

Filming of Dallas began in 1978 when Lorimar Productions chose the site as the location to film its new series. After filming of Dallas ended, Southfork became strictly a tourist attraction and event location and facilities for conferences and functions were erected to fulfill the requests that poured in due to the site's popularity from Dallas.

In June of 1992, Rex Maughan, a businessman from Arizona, purchased the ranch after hosting events at the ranch regularly for his associates from around the world. Since the purchase in 1992, business at Southfork has steadily grown and benefit from the nostalgic value that the television series' site still holds and due to the unique facilities. Improvements on the ranch since 1992 have totaled over 14 million dollars, which proves the drawing power of the "world's most famous ranch."
